SSSTS is an accredited CITB course for construction site supervisors. The SSSTS course is a nationally recognised safety qualification and it is now a requirement set out by many major contractor groups for all supervisors working on site.

This course covers relevant legislation for health and safety in the construction The CITB SSSTS Course is attended by thousands of delegates every year across the country and is endorsed by the UK Contractors Group as the standard training for all supervisors on UKCG sites.

This course is designed for those people who work in construction and want to advance their career and qualifications and becomes responsible for supervising a working taskforce.
At the end of course, learners should understand and be able to demonstrate the responsibilities of the supervisor in controlling health and safety on site and how to carry out their duties.

✭ delegates must be 16+ and work or plan to work in construction industry
✭ Minimum entry requirement is a good understanding of English both spoken and written.

SSSTS Course Content

The SSSTS Course content (CITB) includes:
Legal and management
• The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
• The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
• Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
• Reporting of Accidents, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences (RIDDOR 2013)

Health hazard management - overview and changes to the current legislation affecting construction to include:
• Manual handling activities
• Effects and control of occupational stress
• Control of respiratory hazards with focus on asbestos and silica dust
• Control of hazardous substances hazardous to health
• Control of Vibration and Noise

Safety Hazard Management - overview and changes to the current legislation affecting construction to include:
• Fire on construction sites including Fire Safety Order
• LOLLER 1998 – element of safety in lifting
• High risk activities such as working at height, working in confined spaces and excavations

Environment Hazard Management
• Pollution and protection for fauna and flora
